Do you toss and turn in bed constantly?  Do you wish that you could just fall asleep when you climb into bed?  Many individuals are tormented by sleep problems, and have issues going to sleep as the mind continues to race with issues and issues and they are not able to quieten their mind.  This document presents 1 or 2 easy suggestions to quieten the racing mind and help you fall asleep quicker each night. 

Mental exercises can be helpful.  The purpose of psychological exercises to aid sleep is to actively engage your consciousness on something apart from our problems and concerns.  Since these are issues that absorb you, and that your mind finds to be interesting to ruminate on, this will keep you awake until you’re able to find a resolution.  The mind will keep replaying these thoughts even while another part of you is attempting to sleep.  Try using these suggestions to quiet your mind and allow your body to sleep quicker. 

What’s troubling you?  Become more aware of your thoughts.  If it is’s a re-occurring thought it’s probably running through your mind for a reason.  This could be a problem or problem that you will need to work out.  Become mindful of what your conscious mind is brooding about, concentrate on this thought, and then pass it over to your sub-conscious mind.  All that’s necessary is the objective to hand the idea over to your sub-conscious mind, which can process the concern metaphorically even as you sleep.  You can also ask for a dream resolution to help you process the idea symbolically as you sleep. 

Meditate on a relaxing phrase of word.  Is it not relevant what the word or phrase is, so long as you choose something that promotes a feeling of calm.  For one or two minutes, repeat this phrase noiselessly.  If your attention rambles, gently return to your phrase.  This kind of meditation helps your body and mind unwind.  Meditation has been shown to lower your pulse rate and relaxes your muscles ; both are aids to going to sleep simply. 

Visualize a peaceful place.  Picture a place that you find relaxing.  Imagine a stunning waterfall or floating lazily on a river.  Visualise the relaxing place, and your body starts to automatically respond to the image.  Your mind will escape any diversions or concerns.  Make efforts to create a detailed image, such as the blue sky, soft breeze, and cool water.  Use pictures that are potent to you.
