Chances are great that you have had at least one headache in your life. But of course there are headaches, and then you can get migraine headaches that are different. I understand the severe pain of migaines because I used to be affected, terribly, from them during a young age. I am so grateful they stopped simply because they were exceptionally painful. It is somewhat interesting that headaches, and particularly migraines, are not fully understood by the medical community. Everything is clouded and mystified by the simple fact that people do not experience headaches, and pain, all the very same way. But that’s only one small element of a large and intricate picture.

Migraine headaches are a general area in which a tremendous amount of data has been assembled. For one thing, migraines are sometimes identified as, vascular headaches, which is the term for the vascular system of blood veins in addition to arteries. People happen to be known to get a migraine when subjected to extreme temperatures in either direction. Then there can be other reasons such as deficiency of amounts of various physical needs linked to eating and sleeping. So all of this clearly shows that environmental influences play a role at least with some affected individuals. Another culprit for a migraine can be extreme and chronic amounts of stress.

Regarding the overwhelming pain, migraines are unique because the pain appears to take more time to build up. That indicates certain ramifications to doctors but nothing especially definitive. These discoveries just seem to be more pieces to the overall puzzle. Over 50 % of people who get migraines seem to have relations who also have this condition which implies a possible genetic influence. That tends to point to other likely causes such as environmental triggers that produce the same effect.

Swings in the amounts of hormones can cause these headaches in some women. The normal menstrual cycle can often cause a migraine either preceeding or following the cycle. Estrogen does not remain stable at these periods for women. Pregnancy and afterward the menopausal years are also circumstances of wild alterations in hormones. As perhaps thought, some women report greater tendencies to suffer migraines in the course of these periods, as well. It could be useful to note that the treatment generally known as HRT, hormonal replacement therapy, can make migraines more serious than they already are. Conversely, all of those experiences do not materialize to all women who endure migraines.

There are many other factors involved that may bring about a migraine such as sensory stimulation such as loud noises, certain odors, bright lights and an array of smells such as perfumes and other diverse odors. It is distinct that the variety of migraine triggers is highly diverse. Still there are physical factors with some people for example rigorous physical exertion of just about any kind. So there is certainly still a long way to go before this disorder is figured out and properly treated.
