Skin Tag Removal Methods

There are various skin tag removal methods. Skin tags are medically referred to as acrochordon. They are growths on skin that look like small, soft hanging skin. Some may however become large. These tags hang from the skin by a small stalk.

Tags may usually occur on any of the human body part. They are however more common at the neck base, under the armpits and eyelids. They also occur on folds of groin and under the breasts for those people with larger breasts.

A large number of individuals get tags one time in their lives. However, people who are overweight, expectant women or those who have type two diabetes are more like to suffer from tags. They may also be caused by the friction that occurs when the skin rubs against skin.

Although most tags are painless and harmless they make the appearance of an individual unsightly. Some may become irritated and red. Others may cause discomfort and pain when snagged by clothing.

Some tags often fall off spontaneously and painlessly leaving no marks at all on the skin. Those that become bothersome may need to be removed. There are various ways of removing such tags. Some of these methods can be much more painful than others.

The first method is removal of the tag by a doctor. The sufferer may have to pay for this since a medical insurance company does not normally cover tags. A doctor may choose to remove them surgically or remove using laser or other procedures.

They may also be removed at home. One way of doing this is to tie the bottom of the skin tag using dental floss or a sewing thread. The supply of blood is cut off and the tag will dry gradually and finally fall off.
