Learn To Avoid Yeast Infections
Ask any woman who has had a yeast infection why they got it and they seldom will know. But she will be able to tell you about the symptoms, the discomfort and most likely knows how to cure a yeast infection. Men and women alike often know the cure for the current flare up, but to be able to cure yeast infections for life you really need to understand the causes. Unfortunately, those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
Yeast infections are simply irritations of mucous membranes throughout the body in places like the vagina, intestines, skin or mouth. This infection causes irritation and swelling of the affected area(s). The fungus known as candidiasis is the cause of yeast infections when an over-abundance is present. Thrush and vaginitis are also caused by this candida family of fungi.
What Do I Need To Know About The Cause Of Yeast Infections?
You must understand what causes yeast infections to stop getting them in the future. The candida fungus seeks out and attacks vulnerable areas of the body. Yeast infections are very often the result of a woman taking antibiotics or steroid medications. This type of medication is often responsible for the vagina developing too much candida. Keep in mind that the candida fungus is always present in the body in small quantities but becomes a yeast infection when there is an over-abundance. For some women they must use antibiotics and steroids to remain healthy. Women who have had a history of yeast infections and need to take these types of medications often need to use a yeast infection medication at the same time.
Hot weather and damp underclothing or swimsuits can also cause yeast infections. The candida fungus thrives in warm, damp environments. Everything Candida needs to flourish is provided by perspiration in the vaginal area or a damp swimsuit. To prevent yeast infections in hot, damp weather, change your underwear if it feels too damp, use wetness-absorbing powder in your underclothes, and change out of your swimsuit into dry clothing when you’re not swimming.
A well-known cause of yeast infections among women is wearing shorts or jeans that are too tight. Vaginal irritation is caused by the clothing being too tight. Candida thrives on irritated skin. After the irritation, comes the start of the full-blown yeast infection. It makes a lot of sense for women who are susceptible to yeast infections to avoid tight-fitting clothing whenever possible.
Tight-fitting clothing is just one of the reasons that irritations can begin and yeast infections start. Some women are especially sensitive to bath products that contain a lot of soapy suds. Many women are attracted to the smooth feel and pleasant smell but often regret their use afterward. Obviously, if you know that a bath product causes irritations for you, then avoid whenever possible. An option to turn to is to try a milk-bath product that only has a small amount of soap in it.
Lastly, it’s very important for women to not use douche products. Most physicians agree that using douches is not helpful or necessary for maintaining vaginal health. Nature does that for you and does not need assistance from harmful douche products.
